Austrian National Council President Wolfgang Sobotka to Open the Meeting
Vienna (PK) - The Secretaries General of the European Union Parliaments will meet in Vienna on 28 January at the invitation of the Austrian Parliament’s Secretary General Harald Dossi. The meeting will serve as a preparation for the Conference of Speakers of the European Parliaments in April; the agenda will include the European elections. The meeting will be opened by Austrian National Council President Wolfgang Sobotka.
Under the title “Open Parliament - Opportunities and Limits”, the meeting of the Secretaries General of EU Parliaments will also discuss in particular the tensions between opening up parliaments and security aspects. The results of the crowdsourced pilot project for the design of the visitor centre in the newly renovated Parliament building will also be presented.
The meeting will take place within the framework of the Parliamentary Dimension of Austria’s European Council Presidency. For the Austrian Parliament, the Council Presidency officially ends with the most important Conference of Speakers of the European Union Parliaments on 8 and 9 April, 2019.
