Deputy Managing Director of the European Fund for Strategic Investment (EFSI)
Ms. Iliyana Tsanova is Deputy Managing Director of the European Fund for Strategic Investment (EFSI) – a EUR 21 billion guarantee facility launched jointly by the European Commission and the European Investment Bank Group. Before joining EFSI in January 2016, Ms Tsanova held the position of Director, EU Funds Co-Financing and Financial Engineering at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London, UK. She has more than 12 years of development banking experience with EBRD.
In 2013 and 2014, Ms. Tsanova was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in charge of the management of the European Structural and Investments Funds in two separate caretaker governments of Bulgaria.
In 2015 Ms Tsanova was named Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum (WEF), Switzerland
Ms. Tsanova’s academic background is in Corporate and Business Finance. She holds a MSc. in Finance from University for National and World Economy – Sofia, Bulgaria, and a postgraduate studies in Financial Management as visiting scholar at Georgetown University – Washington DC, USA.
