Maria Margarida Ferreira Marques

Maria Margarida Ferreira Marques was born on February 3, 1954. Married. One daughter and a son.

Degree (5 years) in Mathematics - Statistics, from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon and a Master's Degree (3 years) in Education Sciences - Education for Development by the Faculty of Science and Technology of the New University of Lisbon. She was elected to the Assembly of the Republic by the Lisbon constituency in the III legislature (1982/1985). At the moment, she is member of the XIII legislature, elected by Leiria constituency.

She is Vice-President of the European Affairs Committee and Coordinator of the Working Group Scrutiny of European Initiatives; she is a member of the Commission on Budget, Finance and Administrative Modernization and the Special Committee for the follow-up on the Process for the Definition of the "Portugal 2030 Strategy. Margarida Marques was Secretary of State for European Affairs of the XXI Constitutional Government (November 2015 / July 2017).

She used to be an Official of the European Commission for 21 years and she held the position of Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Portugal between 2005 and 2011.

She was Deputy Director of the Office of Technological, Artistic and Professional Education at the Ministry of Education (1988/1992) Invited Professor at the Autonomous University (1983/1989), at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the New University of Lisbon (1989/1994), at ISCTE / IUL (2004/2011). She was a Member of the Advisory Council for Equality (1986/1992), National Council of Education (2000/2002) and member and Vice-President of the General Council of the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE / IUL) Graced with: Great Cross of the Order of Honor; Greece Great Cross of the Order of Merit; Luxembourg Great Cross from Elizabeth to Catholic; Spain Official of the National Order of the Legion of Honor; France.

She is the founder of the Socialist Youth and was its Secretary General from 1981-1984.
