The Austrian Parliament is in regular exchange with the Israeli Knesset and the Moroccan Parliament to contribute to a better understanding of the two societies.

Israel

There is a lively exchange between the Knesset and the Austrian Parliament on the political and administrative levels. Since spring 2021, officials from the two administrations have also been exchanging information on various topics.  

On May 16, 2022, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed to strengthen further the development of parliamentary relations at the political and administrative levels and to underline Austria's special relationship with Israel.

Memorandum of Understanding

The Memorandum on Parliamentary Cooperation includes the following topics:

  • Innovation, digital transformation, new technologies and transparency, especially in the legislative process and sittings
  • Security strategy and structural security as well as ICT and cyber security
  • Offerings for visitors and the public
  • Democracy-education programs
  • Sustainability, accessibility and inclusion
  • Other areas of mutual interest

As part of the Memorandum, both Parliaments intend to promote dialogue through delegation visits, study visits, seminars, administrative exchanges, and joint meetings between various committees and departments. Parliamentary exchanges are also intended to contribute to and promote better understanding between the two societies.

Morocco

On the occasion of the 240th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Austria, a Memorandum of Understanding on parliamentary cooperation between the Austrian and Moroccan Parliaments was signed in Rabat on 20 March 2023.

Memorandum of Understanding

Parliamentary diplomacy is intended to strengthen further the relationship between the two Parliaments and to improve interparliamentary cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral levels as well as in international organizations. Both Parliaments aim to expand the dialogue through an increased exchange of visits at the political and administrative levels.

Increased interaction at the committee and civil servant level, as well as in the framework of parliamentary friendship groups on issues of shared interest, should also contribute to a better mutual understanding between the societies.
