Guidelines for the Access of Media to the National Council Chamber

General

The President of the National Council shall have authority over the Parliament Buildings and determine the internal rules of the house after deliberation in the President's Conference (§ 14 para. 1 of the Federal Law on the Rules of Procedure of the National Council).

The President of the National Council may issue guidelines for the access of media representatives i.a. to the National Council Chamber after consultation with the members of the President‘s Conference (§ 16 para. 6 of the Internal Rules for the Parliament Buildings).

The President of the National Council has issued such guidelines as follows:

Notwithstanding the provisions of § 16 para. 2 subpara 4 IR, media representatives shall be permitted to enter the National Council Chamber under the following conditions:

1. Before sittings of the National Council or its committees and before hearings and commissions of enquiry, access to the front semicircle of the National Council Chamber shall be permitted for the purpose of panning the camera. Access to the areas between the seats of the Members of the National Council shall be prohibited.

2. On other occasions (such as events), access to the National Council Chamber is generally permitted.
