The Parliamentary Administration

Parliament is not only elected representatives but also the people in administration, the library, security guards, employees of the parliamentary parties, maintenance staff etc.

Parliamentary Business As Usual

The Austrian Federal Constitution Article 30 paragraph 3 B-VG entrusts the support of the federal legislative bodies and Austrian Members of the European Parliament to the Parliamentary Administration under the guidance of the President of the National Council.

The Parliamentary Administration relies on a staff of approximately 400 persons who ensure the smooth running of parliamentary business. Their principal task is to provide the necessary services and documentation for committee and plenary sittings, and they assist and support a large number of other activities, ranging from property management, the provision of an appropriate technical infrastructure, the preparation of a variety of events and the cultivation of international relations to the transfer of Members’ remuneration payments.

With its Citizens’ Service, Visitor Service and the Parliamentary Library, its own publications and other facilities the Parliamentary Administration offers those interested in the business of Parliament a broad range of attractive services.
