In situ - Permanent Installations

A number of contemporary artists have created artworks specifically for the renovated Parliament, revolving around themes of democracy, human rights, and politics. They will be on display permanently.

Gallery

The Gallery features a selection of works on display throughout the Parliament Building. Among them are a number of portraits of the former Presidents of the National Council from the beginning of the Second Republic.

Some contemporary pieces such as by Herbert Hinteregger ("Ohne Titel, Cahersiveen") are also part of the collection.

Exhibitions

Exhibitions of contemporary works of art, on loan from the artists, are regularly held on the premises of the Parliament.

Some works are also owned by the Parliamentary Administration, such as "Ohne Titel" (agua 2), 2005 by Maja Vukoje, which was purchased by the Margaretha Lupac-Foundation.

Die Fotografie Nummer 3 aus der Serie 'Towards the Horizon' des russischen Fotografen Emil Gataullin wurde 2014 als Siegerbild des Alfred Fried Photography Award ausgezeichnet.
Der Preis wird seit 2013 vergeben und wurde vom österreichischen Fotografen Lois Lammerhuber (Edition Lammerhuber) und der österreichischen Photographischen Gesellschaft gegründet (www.friedaward.com).
Das Siegerbild 2014 ist Teil einer Serie, in der Emil Gataullin in Schwarz-Weiß-Bildern mit analoger Kamera das Leben des ländlichen Russland porträtiert hat. Die preisgekrönte Aufnahme zeigt zwei Jugendliche auf einer Schaukel im Moment des Überschlags. Für die Jury ein Sinnbild einer Welt, die Kopf zu stehen scheint.
Der Alfred Fried Photography Award ist nach dem österreichischen pazifistischen Schriftsteller Alfred Hermann Fried benannt, der 1911 für sein Wirken mit dem Friedensnobelpreis ausgezeichnet wurde.
