Parliament opens its doors on Austrian National Day, October 26.

Parliament is open on October 26, 2026

Take a look behind the scenes at parliamentary activities and interact with the Presidents of the National Council and the Federal Council as well as MPs.

A 45-minute exploratory tour will take you through the building - from the Chambers of the National and Federal Councils via the historic Federal Assembly Hall to the Columned Hall.

As a special highlight, you can take a look into a committee room that is not normally open to the public.

The tour ends on the ramp of Parliament which is usually reserved for state guests and which offers a unique view over the Ringstraße.

The Parliament will be open to all interested parties on Open House Day, October 26, 2026 from 10 am to 4 pm (last admission at approximately 2 pm). Due to the large number of visitors, we kindly ask you to register in advance for a time slot. By doing so, you will help us reduce waiting times. Guided tours in Austrian Sign Language are available every hour on the hour.

Please note that registration is only possible via the calendar on the German language website. Guided tours in English are marked in the calendar with an EN flag.

Important information on access

There will be a security and ID check at the entrance of the Parliament Building. We kindly ask for your understanding that waiting times may occur due to the security procedures. Please make sure to arrive 15-30 minutes before your booked time slot and bring an official photo ID (e.g. driver's license).

Young people over the age of 14 must also present a valid photo ID (e.g. student ID).

The Parliament Building is barrier-free accessible. If required, support staff will assist with access.

Access on Open House Day will be via the corner of Schmerlingplatz/Dr.-Karl-Renner-Ring directly opposite the Monument of the Republic.

You can reach the Parliament by public transport with:

  • subway lines U2 and U3
  • tram lines 1, 2, 46, 49, 71 and D
  • bus 48A

What items are prohibited in the Parliament Building?

  • Large items of luggage (suitcases, trolleys, etc.)
  • Bulky items
  • Weapons of all kinds (firearms, blunt, cutting or stabbing weapons etc.)
  • Knives, scissors (with the exception of nail scissors)
  • items that may be used as weapons
  • Long sticks or batons (except white canes or walking aids for reduced-mobility visitors)
  • Stick umbrellas
  • Nordic Walking poles with tips or spikes
  • Blank-firing firearms, pepper spray, and airsoft guns
  • Concealed weapons
  • Iron rods or iron pieces
  • Dart arrows
  • Rocks or stones
  • Chains
  • Pyrotechnic devices
  • Ladders or folding chairs
  • Glass bottles from 330 ml, plastic and metal bottles from 500 ml capacity
  • Bicycles, scooters, (e-)scooters, skateboards, inline skates
  • Balloons
  • Camera tripods of more than 30 cm in length
  • Animals (with the exception of assistance animals)
