Day of Parliamentary Research 2025

Content

What role do different temporalities and time horizons play in politics? How can future issues, especially with a long-term perspective, be integrated into legislative processes? What role do representation, deliberation, and dialogue play in dealing with future challenges? How can parliamentary processes keep pace with technological and societal developments in a digitalised world?

These and other questions will be discussed by researchers from various disciplines, countries and institutions at the Day of Parliamentary Research 2025.

The programme contains keynote speeches by political scientist Tapio Raunio ("How to make parliaments more influential in policymaking”) and legal scholar Maria Bertel ("Is there a future for legislation?”) as well as panel discussions and a poster session. Another highlight is the presentation of preliminary results of the ongoing research project of the "Research Year in Parliament”(2024) as well as the announcement of the newly selected project (2025). In the concluding panel discussion ("No time for the future? From dystopias to utopias and everything in between”), a diverse set of panellists from within and outside academia reflects on time and temporalities in politics, research, arts, and society.

The latest detailed information can be found at Day of Parliamentary Research (in English) or Tag der Parlamentsforschung (in German).
